Tournament Regulations for Sailfish Showdown Annual Tournament 2024
Please read all rules carefully. Adherence to these rules is mandatory for all participants in this specific tournament.

1. Participation & Eligibility

  • All participants must be registered for the 'Sailfish Showdown Annual Tournament 2024'.
  • Participants must possess a valid fishing license as required by Florida state law.
  • Team entries are allowed, with a maximum of 4 anglers per registered boat.
  • The tournament organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to any individual or team.

2. Tournament Period & Boundaries

  • The tournament officially starts at 6:00 AM on October 26, 2024, and concludes at 4:00 PM on October 26, 2024.
  • Fishing is permitted only within the designated tournament boundaries, defined as Florida's Atlantic coastal waters between Jupiter Inlet and Government Cut (Miami).
  • All boats must depart from and return to registered tournament check-in points.

3. Tagging & Reporting (Sailfish)

  • Only officially tagged sailfish are eligible for the grand prize.
  • If a tagged sailfish is caught, the tag must be reported immediately to tournament control via the official tournament radio channel or phone number.
  • The physical tag must be presented to tournament officials at the weigh-in station by 5:00 PM on the tournament day.
  • Photographic/video evidence of the catch, tag, and boat may be required for sailfish.

4. General Conduct & Safety

  • All participants must adhere to U.S. Coast Guard boating safety regulations.
  • The use of drones for scouting fish is prohibited.
  • Sportsmanlike conduct is expected at all times. Any form of cheating or rule violation will result in immediate disqualification.
  • All decisions made by the tournament director and committee are final.
  • Participants are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their crew.

5. Catch & Release (Non-Tagged Sailfish)

  • This tournament promotes the conservation of sailfish. All non-tagged sailfish must be handled with care and released alive in a manner that ensures their maximum probability of survival.
  • Proper revival techniques should be employed if necessary for sailfish.
  • Anglers are encouraged to use circle hooks to minimize injury to the fish.
